- Fine-bristled brush, dense and soft, so as not to injure the skin.

- Brushing the fur is an important aspect of dog grooming.
- It should be done periodically, so as not to let it get tangled, dirty, or spread throughout the house. Ideally, long-haired or medium-haired specimens should be brushed daily. In contrast, those with short fur can be brushed every 2-3 days. During the shedding season, it is recommended to do it daily.
- During brushing, the fur can be analyzed or potential parasites can be detected.
- Brushing the dog starts from the head area. Since this area is very sensitive, you must be careful not to scratch the skin; brushing should be done gently, with smooth movements. It would be preferable to use a brush with thin and flexible teeth in this area.
- The brushing process continues with the neck, then the rest of the body, the legs, and will end with the tail. The direction of hair growth should be followed.
Brushes and combs suitable for each hair type should be purchased:
- Silky hair (Maltese Bichon, Yorkshire Terrier): soft plastic or natural fiber brushes, metal comb with wide-set teeth.
- Wiry hair (Dachshund, Terriers): brushes and metal comb with short and dense teeth.
- Long hair (Collie, Tibetan Spaniel, Newfoundland, German Shepherd): brushes with wide-set, resistant (metal) teeth, metal combs with wide-set teeth, brushes for removing hair mats.
- Short hair (Retrievers, Beagle, Pointer, Akita): brushes with short teeth (metal or plastic).
