The British Shorthair is the most popular domestic cat breed registered in Great Britain. Its fur is thick, short and, most often, you will see it in a blue-grey color. It is among the oldest cat breeds with traits and characteristics that make it suitable for shows and competitions.

Origin
The ancestors of the British Shorthair were brought to Great Britain by the Romans. The breed was crossbred with stray cats, then with Persian cats (to have thick fur like them). After these crossbreedings, the breed was defined in the 19th century.
Personality of British Shorthair Cats
The British Shorthair is an undemanding cat breed, not very playful, but loyal and affectionate with their owners. Their behavior makes them one of the favorite breeds for animal trainers. They can get along with other animals or children, tolerate a certain medium level of physical interaction, but, by their nature, they do not tolerate being picked up or carried.
Coat
A defining characteristic of British Shorthair cats is their soft and fluffy coat, with a wool-like texture. Although it is said that they do not shed, they do have moderate hair loss that can be controlled if the cat is brushed periodically. Although the most common color is British Blue, British Shorthair can also have other colors, such as: white, red, cream, black, golden, silver or cinnamon.

Care
The maintenance of a British Shorthair cat is minimal. They do not shed a lot of hair, but if you want to eliminate this factor, you can brush them periodically to keep your home clean.
Feeding British Shorthair Cats
Food for British Shorthair cats is an important factor for their maintenance. Although they are not picky when it comes to food, we should be. A diet with premium or super premium food can have a positive impact on your cat's health and well-being. They need a balanced diet to eliminate the possibility of obesity.
