Properties and method of use: Calcium Carbonate is one of the most frequently used calcium-based substances that binds with phosphorus. In CRF patients, phosphorus is one of the main factors contributing to the intensification of symptoms of this condition. As a result, one of the main goals of therapies to combat CRF is to reduce phosphorus intake by administering a low-phosphorus diet or substances that can bind with phosphorus in the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract. Calcium carbonate is separated in the digestive tract, and the calcium ions released as a result of this reaction bind with phosphate present in food to form Calcium Phosphate, which is insoluble and non-absorbable. Studies in humans and animals have shown that reducing the phosphorus content in the daily diet is one of the main factors contributing to an increased survival rate in CRF patients. Chitosan, when used in combination with Calcium Carbonate as a product to support calcium binding in the digestive tract, leads to a decrease in serum phosphorus concentration, a decrease in parathyroid hormone levels, and a reduction in urinary phosphorus excretion. The administration of this product can be considered an alternative to veterinary diets dedicated to dogs and cats with CRF. Vitamin D mainly aims to supplement the deficiency of this substance caused by CRF.

- Cats and dogs up to 10 kg body weight: 1 twist-off capsule/day
- Dogs over 10 kg body weight: 1 twist-off capsule/10 kg/day
