Brushing the coat is an important aspect of dog grooming.

• Brushing should be done periodically, to prevent the fur from tangling, getting dirty, or shedding throughout the house. Ideally, long-haired or medium-haired specimens should be brushed daily. In contrast, those with short fur can be brushed every 2-3 days. During the shedding period, daily brushing is recommended.
• During brushing, an analysis of the coat can be performed, or any parasites can be detected.
• Brushing the dog begins from the head area. Because this area is very sensitive, you must be careful not to scratch the skin. Brushing should be done gently, with smooth movements. Preferably, a brush with thin and flexible bristles should be used in this area.
• The brushing process continues with the neck, then with the rest of the body, legs, and ends with the tail. The direction of hair growth should be followed.
