Brushing the coat is an important aspect of dog grooming.

- It should be done periodically, to prevent matting, dirt accumulation, or shedding around the house. Ideally, long-haired or medium-haired specimens should be brushed daily. Short-haired ones, on the other hand, can be brushed every 2-3 days. During shedding season, it is advisable to do it daily.
